As part of the ELCA church-wide service day: "God's Work, Our Hands", several members of St. John's Lutheran Church, Stamford, CT spent the afternoon of September 7 sorting food and stocking the shelves at the warehouse of The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.  The Food Bank supplies food to many area soup kitchens and relief agencies, enabling them to serve those in need who live in our immediate area.

The St. John's gift of over $1000 was acknowledged by The Food Bank’s executive director, Martin Cohen. During the fiscal year ending June 30, The Food Bank distributed 2,439,639 pounds of food through 83 member agencies and programs. That translates into over 4 million meals!
